Over 33 million individuals worldwide suffer from Atrial fibrillation. Good News for all of us who do. Now we have another excuse to indulge that ever present chocolate craving. A study conducted in Denmark included more than 55000 participants between the ages of 50 and 64.

These individuals were monitored over 13.5 years. In this observational study there were 3346 Atrial Fibrillation new diagnoses and after taking into consideration other risk factors such as lifestyle, diet, etc. there was an interesting link between chocolate consumption and Afib. Those who had 1-3 servings of chocolate a month had 10% less chance of developing the condition then those who consumed less than 1 serving a month.

So next time your inner voice says No to that chocolate bar at the supermarket check-out...Remind yourself you should get it for your heart! And enjoy guilt free.
