Elizabeth Smart- Her Story

I met Elizabeth Smart in 2011. It was a moment I will never forget. She was a driving force in my life for several years because of her example of faith, strength, courage and grace. She had been through so much and yet had a spirit of peace about her. I had to meet her. It was the first event I ever went to by myself in Toronto. I wanted to see if she was truly as wonderful, strong and exuding faith as I thought.

I listened to her speak, hanging on every word, in awe of the confidence with which she shared her story. It was after her talk that I was truly impressed by Elizabeth's character. She made her way through the aisle, stopping with her father to talk with each waiting person. She listened more than spoke, making each person feel like they were the most important person in the room. She shook my hand and politely listened as I gushed over her with admiration and explained the significance of the bracelet I brought for her. I was just a face in the crowd, another person to appease before resting from a long day and yet she made the moment special, made me feel special.
