OLD FASHION OATMEAL COOKIES

 

  2/3 CUP BUTTER SOFTENED AT ROOM TEMP.
  3/4 CUP BROWN SUGAR  [FIRMLY PACKED]
  1       LARGE EGG
  1 TBSP  VANILLA
  1 1/2 CUPS   LARGE FLAKED ROLLED OATS
  1  CUP  ALL PURPOSE FLOUR
  1/2 TSP BAKING SODA
  1/2 TSP BAKING POWDER
  1/4 TSP SALT
  1 1/2 CUPS RAISINS OR CURRENTS
  1/2  CUP EACH NUTS  OR CHOCOLATE CHIPS [optional]
 
 IN LARGE BOWL BEAT TOGETHER BUTTER AND SUGAR UNTIL FLUFFY.         BEAT IN EGG UNTIL SMOOTH, THEN VANILLA IN SEPARATE BOWL COMBINE ROLLED OATS, FLOUR, BAKING SODA, BAKING POWDER, SALT AND RAISINS, NUTS ETC.  WITH WOODEN SPOON COMBINE THE BUTTER MIXTURE WITH FLOUR MIXTURE.
 
  BAKE ONE SHEET AT A TIME IN 350 DEGREE OVEN FOR 12 TO 15 MINUTES OR UNTIL GOLDEN BROWN
